Time is a luxury most healthcare professionals simply don’t have. Between patient rounds, administrative duties, and the demands of personal life, finding a four-hour block for a Basic Life Support (BLS) renewal class can feel impossible.
For medical providers in Marin County, that struggle is over. Safety Training Seminars now offers American Heart Association® (AHA) Self-Guided Learning™ courses at our San Rafael office, located at 4340 Redwood Hwy, Suite F-154.
This new training model isn’t just about ticking a compliance box. It’s about respecting your schedule while maintaining the high standards of resuscitation education you expect. By utilizing a CPR Verification Station™ learning center, you can now complete your hands-on skills session on your own time, without waiting for an instructor.
Traditional instructor-led courses have been the standard for decades. You sit in a classroom, watch videos, and practice on manikins while an instructor watches. While effective, this model is rigid. If the class is at 8:00 AM on a Tuesday and you’re on shift, you’re out of luck.
Self-Guided Learning™ changes the dynamic. It puts you, the learner, in control. This approach combines adaptive online cognitive learning with an independent, technology-driven skills verification.
This isn’t a “shortcut.” In fact, the technology involved often provides more objective feedback than a human eye can capture. The system measures compression rate, depth, recoil, and ventilation volume with precision, ensuring you leave confident in your competence.
The specific course format available at our San Rafael location is HeartCode® Complete. This comprehensive Self-Guided Learning™ course covers the entire curriculum for BLS, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
The process is broken down into two distinct components that you complete independently.
The first step happens wherever you are—at home, in the breakroom, or at a coffee shop. You complete the cognitive portion of the course online using True Adaptive™ learning powered by Area9 Lyceum.
This isn’t your standard “click-through” slide deck. The system uses adaptive algorithms to assess your knowledge in real-time. It identifies what you already know and what you don’t.
If you’re a seasoned ER nurse who knows the ACLS algorithms backward and forward, the system recognizes that proficiency and moves you along quickly. If you struggle with a specific pharmacology concept, the program slows down, offering additional support and practice until you master it.
This personalized learning pathway respects your expertise. You spend time learning, not reviewing material you mastered years ago.
Once you finish the online portion, you visit our San Rafael office at 4340 Redwood Hwy, Suite F-154. Here, you will find the CPR Verification Station™ learning center.
This is a self-guided skills session. There is no instructor looking over your shoulder. instead, you interact with a high-fidelity voice-assisted manikin (VAM).
During this session, you perform the required psychomotor skills—compressions and ventilations. The station provides real-time, objective performance feedback. You’ll know instantly if you need to push harder, release faster, or adjust your ventilation volume.
The station objectively measures your performance against AHA-defined criteria. You can repeat the skills activity as many times as needed to achieve a passing score. It’s a low-pressure environment designed for mastery, not just testing.
Your schedule is unpredictable. With Self-Guided Learning™, you don’t need to align your free time with a preset class schedule. You can complete the online portion at 2:00 AM if that’s when you’re awake. The skills session at our San Rafael office can be scheduled at your convenience, allowing you to fit training into small gaps in your day.
Human instructors are excellent, but they are also subjective. A CPR Verification Station™ learning center is purely objective. It relies on sensors and data to verify skills. This ensures that every provider receives the exact same standard of evaluation, reducing variability in resuscitation quality.
We know you need your documentation fast. Upon successful completion of both the online learning activity and the self-guided skills session, you are immediately issued an American Heart Association Course Completion eCard. There is no waiting period. You can claim your card, print it, or email it to your employer right away.
Navigating this new process is straightforward. Here is what the journey looks like for a provider seeking a BLS, ACLS, or PALS Course Completion eCard:
This modality is ideal for a wide range of professionals in the medical field.
It is important to note that while the delivery method is innovative, the curriculum is the gold standard.
These are official American Heart Association courses. The Self-Guided Learning™ format is fully recognized and accepted. The eCard you receive is identical to the one issued after a classroom-based course. It is not a “online certification”—it is a legitimate verification of successful course completion that meets AHA training requirements.
